MEDICINE WHEEL RIDE
The Medicine Wheel Ride, now in its 5th year, is a significant event that gathers attention from across the globe to highlight the critical issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP). Scheduled for Sunday, August 4, 2024, in Sturgis, this event is not just a motorcycle ride; it's a movement to raise awareness and drive action towards the MMIP crisis.
The Issue:
-
Every three days, a Native American woman goes missing.
-
Indigenous women face violence and trafficking at rates 4-10 times higher than the national average.
-
These women often "disappear" in physical reality, media coverage, and data collection.
